Fully Funded 2022 DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme in Germany

Applications are open for the DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme in Germany, a fully funded research scholarship grant open to all international scholars.

Future leaders can receive master’s degrees in fields of social, economic, and political relevance through the scholarship program. In addition to preparing them to assume responsibility in their regions of origin or in their own countries, this program contributes to establishing democratically oriented economic and social forms that eliminate social inequalities and promote social justice.

The following are the benefits of applying:

• Master’s scholarships (currently € 931 per month) at German universities.
• In Germany, there is health insurance coverage
• Germany should provide the respective developing countries with appropriate travel allowances
• Research and study grants
• Family supplements and rent subsidies, as applicable
• Before the German language course, there was a 6-month German language course in Germany. The participation is mandatory.

Procedures for applying:

German or English is the only language accepted for applications.

1. If you are applying for a research/study scholarship, please fill out the DAAD form in only one go (see Attachment 2) and indicate the course or courses you are interested in studying, in the latter case clearly indicating your first and second choices.
2. Please submit a single application for both master’s courses and a single letter of motivation if you are applying to two master’s courses. It is important that you explain to the admissions committee in this letter why you chose the master’s program and what your reasons are for prioritizing the program.
3. To apply for the master’s courses you are interested in (no more than two), please complete the application form and submit the required documents (listed below). The master’s course is the only way to apply for scholarships.

Criteria for selection include:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a developing country
• In most cases, they have well-qualified first degrees in social and political sciences, law, economics, public policy, and administration
• Participating actively in their home countries’ and regions’ economic, political, and social development
• Experience in relevant fields (professional experience, internships, commitment to politics and society)
