Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited is now accepting applications from qualified secondary and university Nigerian students for the 2021/2022 scholarship award program.

NOTE: The deadline for submission of application for the Midwestern Oil and Gas JV Scholarship is September 1, 2021.

Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited, operator of the Umusadege Field in OML 56, Delta State on behalf of itself and its JV partner SunTrust Oil is offering a number of Scholarship Awards to suitably qualified Nigerian students for its 2021/2022 Scholarship Scheme.

The Scholarship Scheme is aimed at promoting academic excellence and improving the skill-base among youths of our host communities and Delta State in general.

  • Secondary School Merit and Community Award – for host communities only
  • University Merit and Community Award – for host communities only
  • University Merit Award – for Delta State indigenes only

Secondary School Merit and Community Award – for host communities Only

  • Open to JSS I & JSS 2 Students only
  • Admission letter to Secondary School in Nigeria
  • Result in the last 2 years in Primary School.
  • Birth Certificate
  • Identification letter signed by Ward Counsellor or CACC ( Community Accredited Contact-men Committee)

University Merit and Community Award – for host communities Only

  • The scholarship is open to 100 & 200 level students at the time of application
  • JAMB/UTME & University admission letter from an accredited/approved university in Nigeria.
  • Minimum of 5 Credits in SSCE or GCE including Maths & English in one sitting
  • Current University ID Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Identification letter signed by Ward Counsellor or CACC ( Community Accredited Contact-men Committee)

University Merit Award – for Delta State Indigenes Only

  • The scholarship is open to 200 level students who must have 3.5 and above Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in his/her first year in the University
  • Minimum of 5 Credits in SSCE or GCE including Mathematics & English in one sitting
  • JAMB/UTME & University admission letter from an accredited/approved university in Nigeria
  • University Admission letter from an accredited/approved university in Nigeria
  • Current University ID Card
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in his/her first year in the University (3.5 and above)
  • Letter of identification from LGA

In 2003, Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited was awarded 70% interest in Umusadege Field located in OML 56 which is situated at the northern area of Delta State, Nigeria.

Midwestern is the operator of the field while SunTrust Oil Company Ltd., its Joint Venture Partner, holds 30% interest and Mart Umusadege Resources Nigeria Ltd. is the Risk Service Provider to the Joint Venture. Midwestern commenced its upstream activities in 2005.

1999- 2001

In late 1999, the Federal Government of Nigeria issued new guidelines for the development of proven underdeveloped fields in the country. To achieve this, the Government recovered twenty-nine (29) abandoned and/or under-exploited fields from the major operators in Nigeria and their production rights were re-allocated through farm-in agreements.

2001 – 2002

As a result, in 2002 the Government offered twenty-four (24) marginal field packages to Nigerian upstream oil companies.

Midwestern was one of more than thirty (30) indigenous upstream entrepreneurs that were awarded these marginal fields.

2003 – 2005

In 2003, Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited was awarded 70% interest in Umusadege Field located in OML 56 which is situated at the northern area of Delta State, Nigeria.

2005- 2014

Midwestern acquired Umugini Pipeline Infrastructure Limited (UPIL), a pipeline company which constructed a 51.4km pipeline from Umusadege to Eriemu for injecting crude into the Trans-Forcados Pipeline. The UPIL pipeline has a design capacity of 82,500bbls per day and was commissioned in 2014

2014 – Present

Midwestern acquired an interest in OML 18 (Eroton E & P Company Ltd), one of the divested assets of Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited in 2015. The Company achieved 10 million Man-Hours LTI-Free operations in 2017. Midwestern has also received several awards and recognitions by notable national and international bodies for achievements in HSE.
