Scholarship Opening and Deadline Timeline:

  • The 2022 Cobelll Summer Research Fellowship Application is now open. Application Deadline is January 10, 2022.
  • 2022-2023 academic year for undergraduate and graduate scholarship applications are now open. Application deadline is March 31, 2022.
  • The 2021-2022 vocational/trade application is open while funds remain available. The final deadline to apply for spring 2022 funding is the earlier of may 30, 2022 or until available funds are exhausted.
  • Summer 2022 applications opens February 15, 2022 and ends in May 3, 2022.

Eligibility for Cobell Scholarship

  • They must enroll full – time study, degree – seeking at an accredited post – secondary institution.
  • Applicant must plan how to attend or be attending nationally, regionally, industry accredited non – profit public and private institution.
  • Must complete a tribal eligibility form. be pursing vocational certificate or diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or professional degree.
  • All the finalist must ensure that they demonstrate an unmet need through a process that will be coordinated with the IEI staff.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • All the finalist must ensure that they demonstrate tribal enrollment through a verification process that will be coordinated with the IEI staff.

How to Apply for Cobell Scholarship

For new users just click sign up and you will be prompt to enter your email and create a password. once you have entered your password, your account will be created and you have access to the portal.

For returning users just sign in using the email and the password you created when originally signed up for the portal. If you have forgotten your password indicate by clicking “forgot your password” and follow the prompt to reset your password.


Don’t create duplicate accounts because it may lead to delayed award in the process.

Both Merit-based and Need-based, the competitive Cobell Scholarships is annual, non-renewable, and available to any post-secondary (after high school) student who is; an enrolled member of a US Federally-Recognized Tribe, enrolled in full-time study and is degree-seeking.

Applicants must plan to attend or be attending any nationally, regionally and industry accredited non-profit, public and private, institution. Applicants must be pursuing a vocational certificate or diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or professional degree, or certificate.

Scholarship value/worth and award

The Cobell scholarship is worth $6000 per academic year.
