Cape Peninsula University of Technology Undergraduate/Postgraduate Application Procedures

CPUT Online Application Procedure:

  • Simply fill out the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Online Application Form and upload any required papers so that our administrative department can handle it.
  • Once all of the required costs have been paid, your application will be complete.

Second Step: Make your Application

OPTION A: APPLY ONLINE

  • Start your online application.
  • Get your username and 8-digit password.
  • Complete the online form.

OPTION B: APPLY ON PAPER

  • You can get a paper application form at 021 808 9111 or at info@sun.ac.za.
  • Complete all the required fields and post the form with the other application documents so that they reach us before the closing date.
  • If we receive both an online application and a paper form application from you, we’ll only look at the online application.

Please note that Only the following category of applicants are eligible to apply manually.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) candidates
  • Non-South African Citizens (International applicants)
  • Non-South African School Leaving Types applications

NB: No manual posted or over the counter applications will be accepted for normal RSA applicants.

Third Step: Upload supporting documents

  • A number of documents must be submitted with your application form. Do not send any original documents, only send certified copies. Copies of documents can be certified at a police station.

Forth Step: Fill in the application form

Filling out the application form would be easier if you have your official documents handy. Read the instructions on the application form attentively and fill out all of the essential areas of the form. Forms that are not completely filled out will not be processed. Here are some suggestions to assist you in successfully completing the form.

  • Your name, surname, and identity number or passport number must all be entered precisely as they appear on your identification document or passport in order for it to be valid.
  • Make certain that you use the correct name of the qualification when you are filling out the application form for the qualification you wish to pursue. The qualification’s name can be found on the CPUT website or in the prospectus booklet, depending on the institution.
  • Applicants are only permitted to make three selections (to be filled in on one form). Any more applications will be rejected outright.
  • If you wish to dwell in a CPUT residence, check the appropriate box on the application form and complete the residential application form, which may be found at the back of the form. If you do not check the Yes box and finish the residency application form, you will not be assigned a space in a residence. There is no guarantee of a residence space.
  • Your home address is the address at where you will be permanently residing. Request a copy of a municipal bill from your parents and make a note of the address on the bill.
  • Even if you intend to apply for a bursary or loan, you must include the name and contact information of the person who will be responsible for paying your tuition costs, as bursaries and loans are not always guaranteed.
  • Complete the legal undertaking in its entirety by reading it fully and signing it.
  • Fill out the checklist at the end of the form to ensure that everything is in order.
  • Check that you have entered all of the necessary information on the form by reading it through again.

Sixth Step: Send in your form and documents

The Admissions Office must receive the completed application forms and any supporting documentation. You have two options for submitting your application form and any associated documents:

  • Forms can be hand-delivered at the campus where the programme is offered. The application form includes information on the locations where the courses will be offered.
  • By utilizing the addresses shown below, you can also send your application forms to the Admissions Office at the school where the program is offered.

Forms submitted by fax or email will not be accepted. It is very important to highlight that you should never submit a form to anyone who claims to be a representative of CPUT.

Only forms that are submitted through the mail or brought in person to the Admissions Office will be considered.

Seventh Step: Track Your Application

  • The CPUT system has been loaded with all of the necessary apps. Once your application has been entered into the system, you will receive an SMS confirming that the institution has accepted your submission. Please keep in mind that this is not an acceptance notice.
  • Prospective applicants who have submitted an application form can check the progress of their application either online or by calling the number on the application form.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

Interested applicants who wish to apply for a new qualification must submit all of the required documentation. The deadline for submitting the needed documentation is the same as the deadline for submitting applications.

It will be acceptable if documents are supplied after the application deadline has passed. CPUT, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, is not obligated to supply scanners or other technological devices to its students.

To submit an application to CPUT, you must present the following documentation:

Documents that South African citizens are required to submit include:

Make a copy of the receipt proving that you have paid your application fee.

  • You will need to provide a certified copy of the first page of your identification document.
  • A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification is required for this. If you are still in Grade 12, your Grade 11 grades, as well as your most recent Grade 12 grades, must be submitted with your application.
  • An original Academic Record and a Certificate of Conduct, as well as verified copies of any other certifications, diplomas, or degrees you have previously acquired from any other higher education institution, are required.
  • You may also be required to provide additional documents that are particular to the course for which you are applying, as detailed in the application form and admission requirements.

Documents to be submitted by non-South African citizens:

  • Copy of the proof of payment of your application fee.
  • A certified copy of your passport/ refugee permit or proof of permanent residence.
  • A certified copy of your school-leaving certificate, together with an English translation.
  • A scratch card (students from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).
  • Sixth-year Bulletin: Diplom D’Etat and Journal and transcripts of results or Journal or Confirmation of Results from the Embassy (students from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo or Cameroon).
  • Any other documents specifically required for the course to which you are applying, as explained in the application form and admission requirements.
