Eligibility For Undergraduate Scholarship in Nigeria 2022
Just like I mentioned above, there are requirements for these scholarships and none can be skipped during your application. However, the requirements differ from one scholarship to another. So, anyone you want to apply for, I recommend you visit the official website for more information. Or you can always check back here for detailed information about the requirements and process of application.
Generally, the requirements won’t exceed the following documents below.
- Passport Photograph
- Reference Letter/Sponsorship Letter
- Local Government of Origin Identification
- O’level Result
- O’level Certificate
- International Passport (if you are studying abroad)
- Jamb Result (Usually Original)
- Birth Certificate
- National Identification Number (optional in most cases)
Some Scholarships require just a few of these things. However, if you have all these documents you are in the best position to apply for as many Scholarships as possible. Do well to check the requirements for each.
If you are planning to study abroad, you need to meet any of these requirements:
- Be an international student
- Be a citizen or resident of an international country outside the awarding body’s own country
- Be from a developing African country -if the scholarship is specifically for students from a developing Africa country (Nigeria is included)
- Would have already applied and been accepted for undergraduate studies at the university of your choice or at least received a conditional offer.

How To Apply For Undergraduate Scholarship 2022
Usually, as an applicant, you need to submit an application letter or form containing your person information, educational information, other information as may be required by the Scholarship you are applying for.
However, each scholarship has its own method of application which anyone who fails to follow the method is automatically disqualified. Most times, it requires you to submit an online application on the official site of the institution or organization sponsoring the Scholarship. Sometimes, you may need to send your application via email or post.
For instance, in the BEA (Bilateral Education Agreement), you will have to submit your completed online application form at whichever JAMB centre you will be taking your CBT test in, along with the requested supporting documents like: photocopies of your educational certificates, testimonials, and WAEC certificates (bring along the originals for verification purposes), your birth certificate from the National Population Commission, state of origin/LGA certificate signed and stamped, and 4 coloured passport sized photographs with a white background.
For those who want to apply for MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program, it requires that you send your application directly to the scholarship webpage of the partner University you wish to study in, since it is a partnership between MasterCard itself and other numerous universities.
Some scholarships require that you send your application form through email. For instance, Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students at Robert Gordon University requires you to send your scholarship application form and other supporting documents to the university through email.
While you are applying for the Agbami Medical and Engineering Scholarship For Undergraduate Nigerian Students, you need to scan and submit your documents on the scholarship portal.
Some also requires you to submit your application through post. For instance, the Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship Award for Nigerian Scholarship requires you to send your application letter and supporting documents to the organization’s address via post.
One important thing is to note the requirements and application medium for each Scholarship. You will be automatically disqualified once you follow any other means other than the required means of application.
